Staff Introduction

Some families have asked when they get to see some of our Bears team. Well, here's your first introduction. We will see in September how well you can pick out the real people from their self-portraits.

Inaugural PAC Meeting & New Executive

Last night was the first meeting of our Parents Advisory Council, and we got so much important work done! First on our agenda was adopting a Constitution and Bylaws, which we did with one adjustment to the number of Members at Large on the executive.

Second, we held elections for executive positions. Often these positions go uncontested, with a few dedicated parent volunteers being acclaimed into the positions. We, on the other hand, had contested elections that required ballots and everything! What an amazing gift it is to have so many parents interested in taking on leadership roles in our new community. We want to thank all of the parents (34 or so) who came out to the meeting, and remind you all that you don’t have to be on the executive to be a part of things. Every parent is a voting member of the PAC. We particularly want to thank the parents who put their names forward for executive positions. Challenging in an election is an act that requires courage, and we appreciate how many people showed that courage.

Without further delay, I am happy to introduce the 2025-26 PAC Executive for Josette Dandurand Elementary:

  • Chair – Micheal Atwal
  • Vice-Chair – Sharon Ma
  • Treasurer – Najwan Stephan-Tozy
  • Secretary – Giuliana Sofra
  • DPAC Representative – Summer Yu
  • Members at Large – Laima Hazmat, Christina Kidd, Kylie Ramirez, Ece Kok Sen, Lavika Sharma, and Amie Bryant

Thank you to all candidates and all elected members of the executive. To quote Luke Dandurand, Josette Dandurand’s son, “We are going to do great work together!”

Thanks, too, to the PAC chairs from Langley Meadows and Willoughby Elementary Schools who attended our meeting to help and guide us along the way, and to Willoughby Elementary for allowing us the use of their library. We appreciate the help every time!
