Nicomekl Food Programs

Our school is fortunate to receive many district and community supports. We are able to offer both breakfast and lunch programs.

The goal of our breakfast program is to ensure students are fed prior to going to class whenever possible. Our staff will be set up with a Grab & Go station at the front of the school. Students can get something to eat while socializing with their peers outside. For those who come late, we have a basket at the front counter. Students can have access to this all day.

If your child requires a lunch daily, please reach out to the school. We will make sure to connect with your child to discuss their food preferences so they are packed a lunch every day that they will eat. We will also follow up with families to ensure we are aware of any allergies, dietary restrictions or cultural/religious considerations. These lunches will be delivered to classes during recess.

Any student who forgets their lunch can also be provided food on those occasions.

We anticipate these programs will continue to grow and evolve. We will keep families updated on any changes that may occur.

1974.. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley developed the Big Brother program, providing emotional support to selected boys and in 1979, were given chapter status by Big Brothers of Canada.

1992.. Because of community need, they expanded to begin offering their service to girls.

1996.. The organization, in order to meet the growing need for service to children, youth and families in the community, began offering the “In-School Mentoring” program through a partnership with the Langley School District.

Every week volunteers spend time reading, drawing and playing with children they have been paired up with.

The program gives the children a chance to bond with the volunteer mentors.

Mission Statement

Commit to the Langley area young people that we will be leaders in providing them with the highest quality, volunteer based mentoring programs, to help them reach their full potential.
