About the Program

The Langley School District (SD35) offers the SkilledTradesBC Youthkpu.2b071a7566.png Train in Trades Landscape Horticulture program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Langley Campus. This full-time program, in partnership with KPU, offers SD35 students the opportunity to participate in SkilledTradesBC recognized Level 1 Technical Training. Students earn high school course credits, as well as post-secondary credits, while learning the required skills and knowledge to become an apprentice upon program completion.

Develop Professional Industry Skills

  • Install and maintain exterior landscape areas including turfgrass
  • Identify an assortment of ornamental and edible plants
  • Develop basic knowledge of plant biology, plant health, soil characteristics and business communication
  • Safely operate and maintain landscape equipment

Requirements

Prerequisites

Have completed before the start of the program:

  • Grade 10
  • English 11
  • Any Math 11

Strongly recommended:

  • Life Sciences 11
  • Earth Sciences 11

Recommended:

  • Experience working in landscaping, lawn care and/or plant care
