STUDENT REPORTING ORDER POLICY:

RATIONALE & PURPOSE

The Student Reporting Policy provides information on assessment and student reporting within British Columbia’s curriculum, which is flexible and focuses on literacy, numeracy and the First Peoples Principles of Learning. The curriculum also supports deeper learning through concept-based and competency-driven education. The curriculum supports the ways in which students think, learn and grow, and prepares them for a lifetime of successful learning in a world where change is constant.

The goal of communicating student learning is to ensure that:

  • students take part in meaningful conversations that help them develop responsibility for engaging deeply with their learning
  • parents and caregivers are well informed, are involved in decisions and dialogue about their child’s learning, and understand ways to support and further their child’s learning
